Made to order · Limited commissions

COTTE

Privacy-first clothing, engineered and measured.

Silver-shielded pieces, cut and made to order by a licensed electrical engineer. Tailoring and material as the luxury, shielding as the function, published test data as the proof.

The lines

One house, four lines.

Line names are working titles and are subject to trademark clearance.

Signal shielding

Mailles

Pouches and shielded pockets that block radio signals from phones, key fobs and cards. Named for the chainmail in cotte de mailles, a garment that is also a cage.

Acoustic damping

Sourdine

A layered, decoupled pouch that reduces how much sound escapes or enters. Performance will be reported as a measured attenuation curve, never as “soundproof”.

Anti-recognition

Dazzle

Printed patterns informed by adversarial-clothing research. These aim to raise the cost of automated identification, not to make you invisible.

Electronics

Relais

Anything that carries a circuit. Every module is removable and every garment washable without it. All products are passive or low-power transmit only.

The atelier

Made to order, for few.

COTTE does not make stock. Each piece is a commission, and the number we take on is kept deliberately small.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We start with what you carry and what you want kept private, then choose the piece and its shielded zones.

  2. 02

    Pattern & shield layout

Each pattern is cut for you, with the shielded volumes, gaskets and closures designed as part of the garment.

  3. 03

    Making

Cut, assembled and finished to order in a deliberately small number of commissions.

  4. 04

    Verification

Finished pieces are intended to be tested as finished items, with results shared with the owner.

Material

Why silver.

Silver is highly conductive, comfortable against skin and naturally antimicrobial, which makes it a better choice than nickel for anything worn.

  • Silver-coated textile as the conductive layer, with no nickel-plated fabric against the skin.
  • Silver is inherently antimicrobial. Any hygiene claim will be limited to what is supported by testing and permitted where the product is sold.
  • Conductive thread and adhesives are specified for continuity at seams and closures, since stitching alone does not give reliable low-impedance joints.
  • Material and finished-item skin-contact testing (including nickel release to EN 1811) before any product ships.

Principles

Transparency is the product.

Most shielding claims are for the material, not the finished item. COTTE publishes the numbers that matter.

01

Finished-item testing

Shielding numbers are measured on the finished piece, closure included, not on a fabric swatch. Results are published with the test method and frequency range.

02

Durability data

Performance is re-measured after repeated fold and wash cycles, because shielding that fails after a month is not shielding.

03

Shielded zones, not full-body claims

A jacket has a neck, cuffs and a hem. COTTE garments build gasketed, fully enclosed pockets rather than promising a wearable cage.

04

Passive by design

No jamming, ever. Shielding only blocks signals to and from the protected volume.

COTTE is an early-stage concept. No commissions are being taken yet, and no performance figures have been measured.
